The compressor is a refrigerant gas pump in which the evaporator supplies gas refrigerant at a low pressure and increases it to a higher pressure. After compression, the temperature and pressure of the vapor increases. The gaseous refrigerant is delivered under pressure to the condenser where condensation occurs at the appropriate temperature.
